God is a God of abundance, this i know

29 Sep

Yes, I know this personally.

When I went to college, my parents gave me an allowance of $400 (excluding rental) every month. But oddly this was what I did with the money -

1) ate in restaurants

2) had tea in hotels

3) bought branded clothes

4) travelled by taxi now and then

5) helped out with my-then bf’s expenses

Thinking back now, I still can’t put two and two together how I managed to pull it. I earn a bit more than that now and I am not even living it up to my old lifestyle!

Yes, i know that there’s inflation but even after taking that into account, I still don’t understand it and kept thinking about it for years. It was only yesterday whilst driving that it hit me, the story about how Jesus fed thousands (with that little fish and bread) came to my mind.

And I realised then and there, even if you got little, God can really make it stretch…….. way beyond human understandings.

HE is really great! And I am very blessed. Do I still live like this? nah….. i watch over my money more carefully now. Downloaded an android app to keep track.

Let God Choose

6 Jun

As for God, His way is perfect! Psalm 18:30

Let God choose for you, it will be the right decision.
Let God guide you, it will be the right direction.
Let God plan for you, it will be in the right timing.
Let God measure for you, it will be the right portion.
Let God help you, it will be the right care.
Let God instruct you, it will be the right teaching.
Let God prepare you, it will be the right training.
Let God counsel you, it will be the right perspective.
Let God fight for you, it will be the right outcome.
Let God work in you, it will be the right result.

Do Not Worry

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

shadow of your wings

8 Dec

My spirit rests in You
You’re all I know
Embrace and touch me
Like a child
I’m safe in You

You’re my shelter through it all
You’re my refuge and my strength
Lord I hide in the shadow of Your wings

My Lord, You’re faithful
You supply all good things
You know completely
All my thoughts
My deepest needs

very meaningful lyrics…………….  Thanks to carrot for sharing this meaningful song………………..

I don’t know about tomorrow;
I just live from day to day.
I don’t borrow from its sunshine
For its skies may turn to grey.
I don’t worry o’er the future,
For I know what Jesus said.
And today I’ll walk beside Him,
For He knows what lies ahead.

Many things about tomorrow
I don’t seem to understand
But I know who holds tomorrow
And I know who holds my hand.

verse 2Every step is getting brighter
As the golden stairs I climb;
Every burden’s getting lighter,
Every cloud is silver-lined.
There the sun is always shining,
There no tear will dim the eye;
At the ending of the rainbow
Where the mountains touch the sky.

verse 3
I don’t know about tomorrow;
It may bring me poverty.
But the one who feeds the sparrow,
Is the one who stands by me.
And the path that is my portion
May be through the flame or flood;
But His presence goes before me
And I’m covered with His blood.

Matthew 6:34 (New International Version, ©2010)

34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

What-if, what not…. why not? what then?

7 Oct

Sometimes whilst keeping to the path we access our current choices and occassional kick ourselves in the arse for making the wrong choices or hesitating over our choices.

So what then? I really don’t know. And then you start thinking of the “what ifs”.

I knew my “what-nots”. It was the very thing that kept me out of certain trouble.

Why not? I believe in keeping with what I promised Him (Carrot knows). And in keeping with that, all the “why nots” gets tossed out.

What then?

I don’t know. I hope He will inspire me. Show my purpose.

Dear God… I am sorry

27 Aug

I am sorry for middle-fingering the prick. Please forgive me. My temper’s been on a very short circuit. Thanks for helping avert the situation from becoming a full-blown road rage.

Thanks to Him

8 Jul

I am always amazed at God’s miracles, blessings and Grace.

I recently had a walk in client. He claimed that he was an ex-client but in all honesty, we can’t remember anyone by his name, nor the company that he had. He was a stranger. But he wanted our services. And he came to us. Today i had a chat with him and found out he was active in a church nearby. Nice chap. You know, God brought him to us and that I know that for sure. We needed the clients and God literally sent one to us.

My take > The Book of Eli

3 Jul

I watched The Book of Eli and initially i didn’t quite understand the show, having found the first 20 minutes slow but as i watched it the story is one about faith, the 30 year faith of a blind man to keep the only existing bible safe. He walked by the “sight” of faith for 30 years, not really knowing where it’ll lead him or his destiny until it was his time only knowing that God told him to walk West. It was set in a time post-apocalypse where after much abundance, scarcity became the norm. The world became lawless.

This show echoes a theme that is inherent in our spiritual life, that is all are made out for a purpose driven life (what is that? It’s for you to find out). When the curator asked about the condition of the bible, Eli responded “It’s beat up but it’ll do the job”. The Word lives even if it’s not on paper. The power of the Word is unfathomable.

The movie’s film in an under saturated colour – monotones. Fight scenes are fairly graphic –limbs being chopped off.

I would watch the movie again and this time without all the distractions around me. Good watch.

*yes, there were some that slammed the religious undertones  of this movie but i like it. I think its a good change. A good reminder of what faith is about.

God Thinks You’re Wonderful

26 Jun

So promise me you’ll never forget…
that you aren’t an accident or an incident…
you are a gift to the world,
a divine work of art, signed by God.

You were knit together.
You weren’t mass produced.
You aren’t an assembly -line product.

You were deliberately planned,
specifically gifted,
and lovingly position on this earth…
by the Master Crafts-Man.

Max Lucado, excerpted from God Thinks You’re Wonderful.
