I made another bookmark – Cat

7 Aug

I was waiting for dinner so i decided to make a bookmark. Its the first time i did an animal “stencil”.

I did a light sketch of the cat (no, i can’t really draw a proper cat so had to suffice with a sketch).

With a thin blade, i cut out the shape. And then decorated the card, as see below.

Nice?

This is going to be my next “mini” project

Will use this link as a tutorial of sorts.

I was thinking of using the brush but on such a big furniture, i don’t know how “smooth” the strokes are going to be.

This is very different from using oil on canvas.

I wonder how many cans of paint I’d need.

I made the same mistake in the last project, i sprayed painted on the grass so now my grass is green with patches of white.

What i’ve been doing at night

I sorted out my stuff and started painting again. Its a good feeling. But the negative side is that turpentine and oil paint is very bad for my skin. Its so rough and dry now.

But oh, i love the smell, the feel of it.

That’s my old palette. I think its a Talens. I am using Daler-Rowney and pretty old Leranc & Bourgeois paint. Both are butter smooth. I prefer either brands over the Korean ones. I feel the Korean ones found in my local art shop is not butter smooth enough. I regretted not buying a larger easel that can prop the canvas at 90 degrees. But no complains about the quality that Mabel produces. Solid. Will last me for decades. AS for the other easel, I think it too will last me well although its a pain to reassemble it. LOL.
