Movie review: The Flight Before Christmas

Alright…

I watched this show on a rather quite and boring night. The storyline was good. Decent flow. Nice animation.

BUT there was something that didn’t cross alot of people’s mind.

Niko’s mom told him that she met his father one night and he took her flying, after which he just left and never came back. So that meant that Niko’s mom had a one-night-stand with a stag and after that conceived him. And he never met his father since – well, not until after the 2nd quarter where he went to search for his dad. Oh… so this is a story of an illegitimate reindeer who was conceived after his parent’s one-night-stand who at the end of the day realises exactly what he wants and the true meaning of family/parent. If you take this into consideration, it doesn’t become very kid-friendly but kids being kids, will they asks all these?

Christmas shopping in September

I have started shopping for gifts. Yes, its September but I figured I might as well take my time to shop and pick the right stuff.

I have bought something for my dad. Am now looking around for something for mom. I have bought myself a new purse. Er, and a few books. What shall I buy for mom? I’ll check out the malls. You’d never know what’s out there. But its not easy to buy something for mom who has everything? Oh….. but maybe a new phone? Ah… i still owe dad his birthday handphone – if worse come to worse, we’ll just pick it up here instead of SG (that is if the Motorola new android phone takes too long to arrive to this part of the world).

As for J & his gf, i’m on the look out for matching passport holders and bag tags. I think it’ll be cute – those His and Hers. No, you will not catch me in those matchy-matchy things.What to get for my aunt? Another bag accessory to replace the one that got stolen? As for the others, I will keep an eye out for the unusual.

Why am I shopping now?

1) Its less of a rush and I can take my time to source for good gifts.

2) I don’t have to spend so much money in such a short time. Buying now means i get to space out the purchases and I won’t go broke come Christmas.

3) I can take advantage of sales and offers that come along intead of rushing to buy at the year end. But you will have to buy things that you know will stand the test of “fashion”. Don’t buy something too dated.
