Its a sense of accomplishment when you have nailed the shot you wanted, the shot you envisioned in your mind. For me, its also the speed at which I can see the results as opposed to waiting for the paint to dry on the canvas (speaking of which, i’ve moved the nude painting outside and yes, i haven’t not yet painted in the “important” part for him).
My only grousse is that weight and cost of the photography equipment. They do not come cheap and those with fixed aperture are more pricey. Which also explains why I am still using and owning two lenses. Weight-wise, do you know how heavy these things are?? My gear alone might weight 3-4 kgs and plus 2kg tripod? To think i bought a carbon fiber. If i had not, i’d end up breaking my back.
I’ll do a review of the things i’ve bought once i have my new laptop. I think I should also get back to writing (my mind’s been full of things to put down on writing). Sadly, I only get to shoot on weekends because I hold down a 9-5 job and night shots are hard to get by because the streets are unsafe especially at night.
The book i read on lighting has broaden my view on how to play with light and shadows. As you can see from my flickr picture on the mushroom and how the light beams through the folds of the fungi. I handheld my flash on my left hand and my camera on the right hand to take that shot. Not easy at all. Very tiring to shot manual.
I’d like to thank my buddy, Nigel for poisoning me and giving me the courage* to take up this hobby again.
* Why courage? I tell ya…. its VERY expensive and takes courage to spend that kind of money!! Hahahah
